Probably better that all the bugs moving around in the hospital..  We are more than Happy to have her home.

Great day for all of us....

Cole is with his Aunty Tracey and Uncle Theunis in East London since 9 December so he was also quite excited to hear Simone would be home before him.

13 December 2015

Awesome News!!! Simone's Dr, Dr Zeeman was here nice and early to see Simone.  She was very happy that Simone's counts are looking very good.  This means Great News her Graft is working..
We are so excited about this news.

11 December 2015

Simone's Blood and Platelets are a little low so we have been waiting patiently for the blood to arrive.  At about 18H30 the Blood arrived so the 4 Hour process begins.

While walking the passageways at the Hospital we bumped into another Mom Quinett and her son Ruaan.  What great people also from the Vaal Area.  Her son has also been diagnosed with Leukeamia, but he has a different type of Leukaemia call AML.  He is unfortunately just starting his Chemo so he will be in Hospital through Christmas.

4 December 2015

Simone was awake most of the night as they have to keep checking her vitals every hour.  A side effect of the treatments she is receiving is mouth sores.  She has had those for a couple weeks of this, but hopefully it wont last too much longer.

6 December 2015

She will also have the odd nose blood as her platelets will start dropping.  She has 4 machines with all the different medications they have her on.  Quite heavy for her as she has to move it back and forward to the bathroom and back.

7 December 2015

today is Day 4 Post Transplant... All going well so far..

9 December 2015

Jason is with Simone at the moment, she had a bit of a rough night as her nose started bleeding, the Staff had to arrange nose plugs for the bleeding to stop.  And once again she will need platelets which are always in demand.  We had so many messages rom friends and family wanted to donate platelets... It really means a lot to us.. Simone is very special to all of you.  Thank you all for your constant thoughts and assistance.

3 December 2015

TODAY is the big Day!!!!

Stem Cells Arrive - Wow Simone is so excited and so is her DAD...  The Stem Cells will arrive early today.  Cole and Heather will be going through to Pretoria as it is Heather's turn to take over from Jason.

We got the date off the Bag of Stem cells of Simone's Donor, she is a Young German Girl, her date of Birth is 17 June 1996.  Wow she is only 19 Years Old.  We are so Thankful for what she is doing for Simone.

The complete infusion process takes about 2 hours.  As usual Simone had to receive many pre meds so she does not have any nausea or pain throughout the process.  The Dr's keep a close eye on her throughout the procedure too.  Vitals are checked every 15 minutes to ensure she is coping..

27 November 2015

No rest for Simone as they are going to start the Chemo that she has to have before the ATG which is a rabbit Serum Simone needs to have. It will help her body not to fight the new Stem Cells that she will be receiving. Its quite a process that she has to go through and I don't think any of us Understand exactly what she has to go through.  She will be on many medications for Nausea, Vomitting, Pain and Many other drugs to help her body Fight against any Bacteria and Fungus that can occur.

26 November 2015

Today is the Last Day of Radiation for Simone, imagine this..... two doses a day at an hour a time... That is a lot of radiation.  Simone you are such an Amazing, Strong person to go through this.  We are so proud of you.

Cole and Heather arrived late Thursday Afternoon to pack Simone up and move her across to Pretoria East, Simone's new Home for the next Month. We have never been as happy to get Simone out of a place ever.  This was an experience we would not like to repeat.

Peak hour traffic when we finally made our way through to the Next stop.  Simone was extremely happy to be at Pretoria East Hospital. The care and treatment of these Doctors and staff was and always has been truly amazing...
Simone was relaxing in her bed in no time, then it was Heather's turn to spend the week with Simone.

23 November 2015

Monday morning and we are ready for the day.  We arrived in Pretoria just before lunch and had a quick bite to eat before we go through.  After this and when Simone is home she wont be allowed to go eat out for the first Month to be safe from any Germs and Bacteria.
We arrived at Unitas Hospital and started our process. First Simone had to go in for a Scan to get ready for the radiation the following day.  Simone will be in Unitas till Thursday then she moves across to Pretoria East Netcare Hospital at Moraleto Park. She had a couple more scans to ensure her body was ready for the Treatment that was coming.
Wow what an awful day... Everything was late from the scan to her Drs appointment and even through to getting checked into her room.  We found most of the staff at Unitas extremely unhelpful and very unorganised.... The didn't have a room for Simone so we had to wait till almost 17:30 before she could get settled into the room.  She was exhausted after a long day of moving from one appointment to the next.  Simone was finally settled in her room about 18H30 and that was when Heather decided to head back to Jhb.  Not the best place

to be with the staff who don't take the correct precautions for someone who needed to be in Isolation.  It was the longest week that Simone has had to endure such awful treatment.  Lucky her Dad was with her the whole way to keep her Happy and Safe.

22 November 2015

To start our day off today we had a surprise visit from Mrs Weinerlein and Katy Meg Simone friends from Assumption and her Afrikaans teacher.  Simone had a long visit from the two of them before we left to go to Carlos and Mel.

Tomorrow we are going through to Unitas Hospital in Pretoria to start the Radiation treatment before thee Transplant begins.  Wow we are so excited and nervous at the same time.

Mel and Heather arranged a pre Christmas Party for Simone before she goes into Hospital, as we weren't sure when she would be out of Hospital.
Simone had so much fun at Mel, Carlos and G's house today.
Amazing food and even better company. Wow what a start to our December.

Thank you Mel and Carlos Simone had an amazing day with you guys.....

21 November 2015

Great Excitement today for Simone.  It is Aunty Diane's Birthday Party and it turned out she had gotten married in the morning.... WOW what a Surprise...  What a great day spending time with amazing friends..
