It looks so exciting guys wish we were there to join in the fun... Once Simone is up and running we will be taking her to all the fun events like this.. At this stage she cant run so we do the walks.  Nothing is going to keep Simone down... Not even Cancer She has too much Life to just want to stop doing the things she loves so much..

Thank you Tanya, Belinda, Mark and Lloyd for thinking about Simone it means so much to us. We love you guys...

All excitement today Heather's cousin Charlene from Odendaalsrus has come all the way with her husband Johann to update his visa to travel overseas, so Charlene decided she would surprise us with a visit.... So exciting to see Charlene.. Simone has never met Charlene so she was very excited to meet another crazy Aunt.

We had a lovely visit with Charlene just too short....

Beautiful gifts from Aunty Charlene and family, Teddy, scarves, bangles, necklaces, and a beautiful Mosaic cross...

Simone is ready to get going already... Her friend Gaby from the soccer team has invited her to join them at training this afternoon.  Depending on how Simone feels she might just kick the ball around a bit.  Simone loves soccer and she loves her friends just as much....

This is not for the faint of heart.....

On The right are two slides of what they take out of Simone for the Bone marrow Biopsy....

Dr's visit today is going to be a hectic time for Simone, she will have to have the Doxorubicin drip, the Laspar injection, plus they have to do another Bone Marrow Biopsy to make sure she is in the clear.  Long day waiting around for everything to finish.  Simone never uses a wheelchair but today we had to get one for her as it was just too much for her.  She was exhausted she slept all the way home and had a good night sleep that evening.

Dr Brittain's office called to say they need to do further testing for Simone, so we were off to the Blood Bank as our usual Monday visit, they needed to do 11 vials of blood.  Wow Poor Simone she is such a Brave Young Lady.. I don't know if I could keep getting Blood drawn every Monday..

29 August 2015

Off to the River for a lovely relaxing weekend.  Saturday morning Simone, Cole, Kayla Opperman and I were up early to get through to town for a Cancer Walk in support of two people Jeane is a mother of two young children and Chante is a 6 year old who is also battling Leukaemia Cancer.  The Walk was in aid of the two to raise funds for Doctors Bills.  If you don't have a decent Medical Aid it can become very expensive and a burden financially on the family.  It was a pleasure and an honour to support these two lovely people.

We were lucky enough to meet Jeane who is stage 4 Colon Cancer and we met Annetjie who is Chante's Grandmother, unfortunately Chante could not be there as her J line became infected so she has been in hospital waiting for the infection to settle down.

Photo on the right is Annetjie Chante's Grandmother,

Photo on the right is Jeane she is such a lovely person, she has two children age 3 and 6 months.

After a lovely morning out with so many people we decided to head back to the River as the Nel's had a lovely trip on their Barge planned.  Simone couldn't wait, Megan has just bought a lovely couch for the barge so Simone could relax nicely with everyone. Thank you Megan, Paul and Ryan what an awesome late lunch chilling and eating on the Barge...

Megan is the lady that is sitting next to Simone,  Megz you guys are amazing.
Simone, Cole and Ryan Nel steering us down the Vaal River...
Paul, Megan, Ryan and Heather chilling on the Barge.. Awesome friends what a great day for Simone.

Doctors visit today.  Simone's White Cell Count was low again so Dr Brittain gave her a Neulastim Injection to help boost her White Cell Count.  Instead of the 5 for the week he has decided to give her the one injection it pushes the White Cell Count up quite High.

Haemoglobin: 11.5

23 August 2015

A very good friend Samone Jonas invited Simone to their church Maronite Catholic Church Lady of Lebanon in Glen Vista.  It was a healing service and Holy Communion for sick people.  They had the saints out from Chicago to do the service for the sick people.  It was a beautiful service that Simone enjoyed thoroughly.  Thank you Samone Jonas and Joleen Diablo for letting us know about the service.  You are all very kind and caring people. Thank you to Brian Samone's Dad for giving up his seat in Church, I have never seen such a beautiful Church and it was so full the people had to stand in the entrance to listen to the service.

Samone Jonas is the lady on the right her husband is the Manager of the Alberton Soccer Club that Cole plays in.

Sandra Viera is on the left and Danica is her daughter, her son is also in the Alberton Soccer Team.

20 August 2015

Simone met a young girl by the name of Kylee who is in for a bone marrow transplant as well, she was admitted as they were getting her ready for her procedure.  Kylee is 16 years old and such a lovely young lady.  Rae is Kylee's Dad and he and Jason have become good friends as Simone and Kylee are going through the same procedures.

21 August

Cole was very excited today as his cast is about to come off if the Doctor is happy with his progress..

Great Food and Great Company.

14 August 2015

Dr Brittain wanted us to go see our Neurologist as it seems one of the Chemotheraphy's Vincristine has affected they way Simone walks.  She has a bit of a lazy leg.

Dr Walhberg did some tests and figured that the problem was Perifiral Neuropathy which is the nerves that help the legs movement.  With time this will all come right.  Simone will need to do some exercises to help the foot get back to normal. Hence every now and again Simone joins the girls at soccer and does a couple minor exercises.

11 August 2015

Off to Pretoria for Simone's next Doctor's visit.  Simone had to have her last IT (Lumber Puncture) WOW it was an amazing thought knowing that she doesn't have to go through that again..
And Simone  amazed us once again, every time she has to do the IT she always has the Dormicon to help knock her out so she doesn't feel it.  But today she decided that she did not want to have to Dormicon as it makes her feel weird.  Simone is so Brave and it helps that her Dr is so good at what he does.  She barely feels anything when he does the IT.

Haemoglobin: 10.1
Platelets: 550
White Cell Count: 25
Neutrophils: 16.73
Infection Count: 1.1

And some very exciting news is that Cole's Blood Tests came back a  50% match, that's amazing.  But because he is so small they have decided to get Jason tested. If he is a 50% match at least they will be able to use him instead of Cole.
Cole you are such a brave young man for doing the blood tests to help your sister.

Jason was off to the Blood Bank to start his Tissue Typing as Dr Brittain would like to see if he is a Match for Simone.

10 August 2015

VANDERBIJLPARK here we come!!!

Pint for a Pint!!

Megan and Paul Nel amazing friends thanks guys..

Today is the Big Day with Magda and Mark Carter at The Horse and River Pub.. Simone and the family arrived very early for the Blood Drive! Heather was hoping to donate her next pint of blood but unfortunately she was still a week away from her donating date.  There were many people coming through the Car Park at Horse and River but they could not get past Magda without doing their share of donating... Well Done Magda you are a Super Star 31 donations on the day.. There were many more who were unable to donate as they were either on medication, not ready to donate or sick.. Thank you to Everyone for their amazing support.. many friends from the area showed up to do their part.

The picture below is of our amazing friend Magda Carter!!

05 August 2015

A very good friend of ours Mel works at UTI, she is one of the Top Brass there.  She made arrangements with the Blood Bank to gather as many people to add to the Blood Donor Registry.  Well Mel you are a Super Star 80 Pints were collected. We are so grateful for the support that we are constantly shown by our friends and Family.  Truly grateful to have such awesome people in Simone's and our lives..

The picture above is Genevieve with Simone and Cole, she is Mel and Carlo's daughter, she absolutely adores Simone, she was very sad when Simone was in Hospital and she wasn't allowed to visit her..

03 August 2015

Dr Brittain gave us a call Tuesday the day before Simone had to come through to let us know that Simone's white cell count was too low and he wanted either Jason or myself to give Simone Neupogen Shots for the week ahead.  As you all know Heather is a bit of a sissy and she cant take the sight of needles without fainting, so brave Dad Jason said he would take on the job of being Dr for the week.  Jason is very brave and he has no issues with a needle.  Lucky for Simone her Dad was very good at his job this week, Simone was very happy that he never hurt her doing the shots, they have to be given in the stomach.

White Cell Count was 1.90 too low should be between (3.92 -9.88)

03 August 2015

Gaby sent me a message asking me first if it would be ok that Simone could go to School and be in the School Sports Photos for Soccer and Hockey.  I agreed as Simone misses her friends and she would love to be with them for a couple hours laughing again.

The picture below is of Gaby she is the Deputy Head Girl at Assumption Convent and she is the most amazing young lady. She has been there from the beginning supporting Simone with messages and visits constantly.. Gaby is in Matric and has her own workload to worry about but she still has time to always think about Simone and get her involved at School. Gaby we love you so much for your amazing friendship with Simone..
02 August 2015

Liandra and Ashley are friends of Simone from Assumption Convent.  These two lovely ladies took part in a cancer walk, all dressed up.  They looked like they had loads of fun!
31 July 2015

Some Bad News for Cole he was training for his Discovery Cup Final at School while Simone was doing her interview in Vanderbijlpark, he managed to fracture his 5th Metatarsal on his left foot, Cole is absolutely devastated as he can't train for at least 5 weeks. That means he can only support his School team while playing their Final for the Cup Game, and he is out of Club and Eastern Gauteng Soccer until his foot has healed. Cole is going to drive us nuts hopping around on one leg for the next 5 weeks!!

29 July 2015

Simone is very excited as Today her Tutor Mandy will be starting.  We are extremely grateful to Mr Workman the Principle at Assumption Convent for everything they are constantly doing to make things easier for Simone, they referred Mandy to us. Mandy is currently studying at Wits here in Johannesburg she already has a couple degrees behind her.  Without the help and assistance from Mr Workman, Teachers and the Assumption girls things could be a lot worse for Simone. She is motivated and very determined to finish Grade 9 and is looking forward to doing her exams at the end of this year.
29 July 2015

SHOCKING NEWS!! The Sister that took Cole's blood did not take enough blood for the testing and she managed to lose the two measely vials that she did take.....  Which means Cole will have to go back to have more blood drawn.. This means we will have to wait a further two weeks before getting the Blood Tests back from Cape Town.  Cole will need the support of his family and friends to go through the needle again.  Cole is a strong young man just like his sister so he will be just fine.

We had to break the News to Cole that he had to go for more Blood Tests the same Day that Cole's School Team Bedfordview Primary School made it through to the semi-final of the Discovery Cup for their soccer team.  He was very Happy until he heard the news that he had to go back to the Ampath Lab.

28 July 2015

Simone was back in Pretoria the Tuesday after been discharged from Hospital to see Dr Brittain.  He was very happy with her blood results and decided she needed a week off from Chemo.  We were all very excited that she did not have to have another IT (lumber puncture) yet.
