Can you believe what a lovely surprise Simone had today no CHEMO!!! Enough for now.  But we do have to go through to the Benoni Oncology Centre to do the CAT scan so they can prepare a mask for the radiation.

23 September 2015

Today is the day that we go through to Benoni and the Hospital to do the CAT scan and make her mask.

The picture above is of the radiation door, behind the door is where Simone goes in for her radiation.

28 February 2015 -The picture above is the room Simone goes into and has her radiation for 10 minutes.. Scary looking room and equipment!! Simone you are so brave! This was Simone's first radiation session.

SURPRISE SURPRISE!!!

Thank you to Daleen from Reach For A Dream for arranging a Surprise Party for Simone.  The Reach For A Dream Team came to visit Simone when she was first admitted into Pretoria Hospital, the wish on the top of Simone's List was to have a party with all her friends.... Wow what a story to keep this Surprise from Simone...  But I think all that attended did a fantastic job of keeping it a secret..

Close Friends and Family that could be there were there.. So lucky to have you all there. Wish everyone could have been there but we did understand that not everyone could make it! We missed you all. Tammy from Alberton Soccer Club hosted the party at their Lapa area, she offered us her indoor soccer court and their large fields for the Girls and Boys to play Soccer on.

18 September 2015

Friday Afternoon and Simone decided she has had enough of sitting around inside and working on school work, she wanted to watch her Soccer team from Assumption play a match. The girls beat their opposition 6 -0.  Simone is a supporter no matter what!! Well Done Girls on winning your League...

Simone is on the far left of the photo, bandana and soccer kit to match her team...
15 September 2015

Simone and I travelled to Pretoria to see her Dr today.  Most of her results were looking good, its only her White Cell Count that was low so he has put her on Neupogen for the next 5 days.

Haemoglobin 12.2 (12.1 - 16.3)
Platelets 209 (150 -450)
White Cell Count 1.8 (3.92 - 9.88)
Neutrophils 0.6
Infection count 2 (below 5)

Dr Brittain explained to us about the different donor types.
There are two types that we are looking at.  Firstly the MUD Donor which is an unrelated Donor that can be anyone other than family.
The other is a HAPLA which is a related family donor, in our case this is her Dad.
The HAPLA donor process is much more expensive that is why they try and look over seas or on our local Bone Marrow Registry. Will keep you all updated as to where the Dr's are in the process.

Dr Fourie is the New Dr we met this week, he is her Radiologist and he will be setting up all her appointments in Benoni, at the Benoni Oncology Centre.  Simone needs to do a three week course of radiation. It is a small dose of about 10 minutes a day.

And I'm sure you are all dying to see her fantastic Dr Brittain.  He has been a fantastic and inspiring man towards Simone.  Always a joke and a funny story to tell her about.
